This curious heroic poem in nine cantos, in honour of the nine Muses, is accompanied by notes by Robert de Laudun, uncle of the author. It is followed by a “Genealogie des Rois de Franconie et de France, depuis Marcomir premier Roy en Franconie, jusques a Henri IV, Roy de France et de Navarre”. Pierre de Laudun, although he borrows his title from Ronsard, does not adopt the theory of his famous predecessor with regard to the origin of the French race and the ancestry of the Kings of France, said to be issued from Francus son of Hector.

Small ownership stamp G.M. [for Gustave Mouravit, 1840-1920, French bibliophile] on the title page and the first table leaf. Autograph note by the same on the first blank leaf: “Ce volume est des plus rares”.

Lovely copy.

Very rare indeed.
