The French author Gilbert-Charles Le Gendre (1668-1746), marquis of Saint-Aubin, was counsellor in the parliament and afterwards master of requests. His Treatise on Opinion contains a collection of historical examples illustrating the influence of opinion in the different sciences.

Bookplate of Sylvain Van de Weyer (1802-1874), Belgian lawyer, diplomat and statesman, member of the 1830 temporary government and Prime Minister between 1845 and 1846.

Small tear to two leaves (volume V, p. 81 & volume VIII, p. 417). A very good copy in lovely period binding.
